About the role
This position is for a Functional Manager of the ECAD drafting team supporting the Mission Systems Sector, in the Drafting Section of the Hardware Mechanical department in Baltimore, MD. The manager will oversee approximately 12 ECAD team members, split between drafting professionals and union personnel. This is a dual-role position involving both management and technical responsibilities.
This role is contingent upon the ability to obtain an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance or the successful transfer of an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance prior to start.
Relocation assistance may be available. Travel is required, approximately 10% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day workload of the ECAD drafting team.
- Interface with program teams to meet schedule and performance goals.
- Conduct performance reviews, workload forecasting, and staffing plans.
- Develop and implement process improvements, roadmaps, and hiring strategies to manage workload demand and skill attrition.
- Lead through positive change as a champion for improvement and innovation.
- Engage and develop employees through training, career coaching, mentoring, stretch assignments, and engagement action planning.
- Maintain work/life balance for staff while meeting performance goals.
- Build and maintain relationships with direct staff, customers, and cross-organizational partners.
- Support technical responsibilities alongside management duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of experience, master’s degree with 6 years of experience, or Ph.D. with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance prior to starting (a current/active clearance is not required to apply but is required to start).
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in ECAD design.
- 3 years of experience with people management, leading a technical drafting/design team, including workload management, performance reviews, and employee development/coaching.
- 3 years of experience leading a high-performing team (technical, Integrated Product Team Lead, Agile, or functional management).
- 7 years of experience working with printed wiring board or circuit card assembly design, layout, drawings, or other technical documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- A current/active U.S. Government Secret clearance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with Mentor Graphics.
- Expertise with Product Lifecycle Management methodologies.
- Experience leading process improvement or introducing new tools/projects.
- Experience supporting or leading projects and/or proposals.
- Familiarity with Siemens Teamcenter software.
- Experience with Mentor Expedition and Siemens MPLM/Teamcenter.
- Experience with drafting or document release processes.
- Experience with document or version configuration management for hardware specifications.

Pay
Primary level salary range: $127,100.00 - $190,700.00. The final offer considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
