About the Role
Lead the design and optimization of HVAC, structural, and integrated mechanical systems, bringing technical expertise and strategic thinking to every project phase.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and guidance to a team of design engineers within a single discipline.
- Develop and implement design engineering work product guides, processes, and standards.
- Define project scopes, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with other engineering discipline leads and business partners.
- Develop and update design budgets for stakeholders.
- Plan and coordinate site survey data collection, design charrette participation, design activities at each project phase, and design submissions to satisfy project timelines and schedules.
- Conduct design reviews and provide constructive feedback to optimize designs.
- Assure that technical coordination is performed and completed.
- Possess a deep understanding of engineering principles, calculations, and design concepts within your designated discipline.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
- Assure compliance with all codes and standards related to your discipline.
- Provide technical guidance to resolve complex design challenges.
- Represent the design discipline at all required project meetings.
- Confirm design direction at each project stage aligns with business goals and direction.
- Review and confirm cost estimates with Estimating & Cost Control (ECC).
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Provide feedback to the project development manager, account executive, and construction manager regarding schedules, deliverables, cost, risks, and discrepancies.
- Submit plans to QC review as necessary.
- Effectively communicate design concepts, strategies, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Foster open communication channels within the team and across departments.

Qualifications
- Four-year Mechanical or Architectural Engineering degree
- Professional Engineer registration preferred
- Minimum 7-10 years of relevant work experience
- Advanced understanding of mechanical building systems and energy use for a variety of building types including K-12 schools, university facilities and housing, correctional facilities, medical facilities, etc.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to listen effectively and solicit input from others
- Advanced understanding of the design, specification, and operation of mechanical systems and equipment
- Proficiency with engineering calculations for chosen engineering discipline (e.g., loads, ventilation, psychrometrics, air & hydronic calculations)
- Advanced understanding of International Building Council codes and applicable area codes and related Mechanical standards and guidelines
- Willing to travel up to 25% to project sites

Pay
For this U.S.-based position, the expected pay range is USD 101,600 - USD 152,400 per year, including base pay and short-term incentives. Individual pay is determined by performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
