Join an innovative critical care medical device company as a Design Engineer to support product development, manufacturing transfer, and next-generation technology initiatives. This highly hands-on engineering role focuses on optimizing existing products, supporting manufacturing operations, and driving design improvements for life-saving monitoring technologies. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical capabilities with a passion for innovation, problem solving, and ownership of the full product lifecycle.

The company is expanding and enhancing its product portfolio within the critical care market. This hire will play a key role in advancing manufacturing readiness, improving operational efficiency, reducing product costs, and supporting future product innovation initiatives. The role offers significant visibility and the opportunity to contribute directly from concept through commercialization.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert and key engineering resource for product development and manufacturing initiatives.
  • Support manufacturing transfer and scale-up activities, ensuring successful transition from development to production.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes and protocols to identify opportunities for improved throughput, efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Design and develop fixtures, tooling, and process improvements to support manufacturing operations.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams and provide on-site support as needed.
  • Work closely with clinical teams to support product deployments, troubleshooting, and technical investigations.
  • Participate in product prototyping, testing, verification, and validation activities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to refine and enhance medical device designs from concept through production.
  • Support product design optimization, manufacturability improvements, and long-term product roadmap initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in design engineering, product development, prototyping, manufacturing support, or related engineering functions.
  • Experience supporting design transfer to manufacturing and product commercialization activities.
  • Medical device industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Startup experience preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least two of the following areas:
    • Mechanical design and prototyping including SolidWorks, 3D printing, and rapid prototyping technologies.
    • Firmware and software development utilizing C, C++, Python, or related programming languages.
    • Electrical design including schematic capture, PCB layout, and circuit debugging.
    • Manufacturing process optimization, tooling, fixture design, and process improvement initiatives.
