Design Engineer II - Land Development

About the role

As a Design Engineer II at LJA Land Development, you will lead the business development strategy and drive growth for the Land Development practice throughout the West Texas and Panhandle region, including Lubbock, Amarillo, and Midland/Odessa. This client-facing role focuses on developing and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external clients while overseeing strategic planning, quality assurance, and problem resolution. The position may be based in either Lubbock or Midland, depending on candidate preference.

Responsibilities

• Apply prescribed methods to complete limited and specific portions of broader engineering assignments.
• Adjust and correlate data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Recognize discrepancies in results and follow operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
• Exercise limited judgment in making preliminary method selections and adopting alternatives.
• Design specific system components as part of the overall project design effort.
• Perform design calculations, prepare equipment or material specifications, and provide direction to technical support or drafting personnel.
• Collaborate closely with team members and senior engineers to meet project deadlines and maintain quality standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
• 2+ years of single-family land development experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships within a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications (Preferred)

• Experience working on multidisciplinary land development projects.
• Familiarity with design standards and municipal approval processes in the region.
