About the role

We're looking for a Design Engineer to join our growing Electric Distribution Design team supporting some of the largest utility providers in the Northeast. You'll be part of a collaborative team where you'll gain hands-on experience, receive mentorship from experienced utility professionals, and develop technical expertise in electric distribution system design. Candidates must be able to satisfy client and project requirements, including DOT drug testing when required for specific projects. This is a client-facing, billable engineering position that offers exposure to a variety of utility programs and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop construction work packages and supporting design documentation.
  • Utilize design software and GIS-based tools to create and maintain utility designs.
  • Collaborate with project managers, senior engineers, designers, and utility clients to support project delivery.
  • Assist with field data collection and verification activities as needed.
  • Support project schedules, budgets, and quality requirements.
  • Participate in client meetings and gain exposure to utility standards and engineering practices.
  • Learn and apply utility design standards, company procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (Electrical Engineering preferred; related engineering disciplines will also be considered).
  • Internship, co-op, or professional experience supporting electric utilities, power delivery, distribution design, or related infrastructure projects.
  • Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn electric utility design principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar engineering design software.
  • Familiarity with GIS platforms and mapping tools.
