Design Engineer Job Summary Using engineering techniques, helps to design, maintain, or improve new or existing products and/or components. Job Duties Design, model and test prototypes for productsConduct research and create design proposals for projectsEstablish design briefsCreate concepts, performance and production criteriaIdentify and select materials needed for productionProduce final hand drawings and specificationsCreate parts listsList costs involved in productionMake samples of working models for demonstrationPlan marketing initiatives for productNegotiate appropriate production processesImprove usability of an itemUse computer-aided design (CAD) to design conceptsComplete all necessary documents fully and accuratelyAdhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)Follow all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and proceduresPerform other duties as assigned Experience and Education Performs work under general supervisionHandle moderately complex issues and problems and refer more complex issues to higher-level staffPossess solid working knowledge of subject matterMay provide leadership, coaching and/or mentoring to a subordinate groupTypically require a bachelor's degree and 2 to 4 years of experience Competencies/ Skills Intermediate verbal and written communication skillsTechnical skillsVisionCreativityAbility to meet deadlinesPlanning skillsLeadership skills Pay range: $78,000.00 - $100,000.00
