Design Engineer 2
This position is fully remote, allowing individuals to work from anywhere in the US.
About the role
As a member of the Electronic Security Solutions (ESS) team, the Design Engineer will play a key role in designing and delivering integrated electronic security systems, encompassing IP-based access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems. The goal is to provide effective security solutions that meet complex client needs and ensure operational safety.
Responsibilities
- Support the design of electronic security systems, ensuring solutions align with client specifications and project requirements.
- Create detailed system concepts, specifications, and requirements tailored to client needs.
- Produce Bills of Materials (BOMs), estimates, and relevant documentation to support proposals and projects.
- Develop design output such as 30%, 60%, and 90% drawings, along with Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings.
- Provide technical guidance to support system architecture, installation, and integration.
- Analyze and recommend suitable security technologies and product solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure complete project delivery and support.
- Engage with clients to clarify requirements and manage expectations.
- Track project documentation effectively, ensuring alignment with design standards and requirements.
- Guide junior team members and facilitate issue resolution across projects.
- Stay updated with ESS technologies, industry trends, and best practices through ongoing training.
Physical Demands
The role involves primarily working in office or remote settings, with occasional visits to construction sites. Candidates should be prepared to follow all safety guidelines and personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols when on-site. In-office conditions will require using standard office equipment and may involve extended periods of standing on-site. There may also be vision requirements for close, distance, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Travel Requirements
The position will necessitate occasional travel by car and air. A valid driver's license is required, and travel expenses will be reimbursed according to company policy.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Associate’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience is required.
- At least 5+ years of experience in technical systems design.
- Proficiency in software tools such as AutoCAD, BIM, and MS Office 365.
- Ability to obtain a government-issued Top Secret Clearance (for US-based candidates).
- Clear understanding of project phases, including programming, conceptual design, design development, construction documentation, and commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, installation practices, and system integration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Certifications or training with platforms such as Milestone, Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, and S2.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented approach with proficient time management skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, including technical troubleshooting and issue analysis.
