This position works with occasional supervision or direction to perform assigned tasks and coordinate initiatives through completion while maintaining effective working relationships with others.
Responsibilities
- Maintain plant configuration control by advocating for the site's Design Bases.
- Provide technical expertise for electrical plant equipment issues on problem-solving and troubleshooting teams.
- Prepare plant improvement design modifications approved by the Plant Health Committee, including calculations, specifications, technical reports, and presentations. Modifications include both online installations and those requiring a refueling outage.
- Perform equivalency modifications for obsolete equipment with Procurement Engineering for Form, Fit, and Function determination.
- Act as the primary technical contact for vendor personnel performing outsourced engineering work.
- Coordinate owner’s acceptance reviews of products developed by external consulting service companies for capital projects.
- Develop and complete investigations and corrective actions in accordance with the Corrective Action Program.
- Support interface with regulatory and oversight agencies, including Nuclear Regulatory Commission Inspections.
- Perform field walk-downs and interface with other groups to resolve emergent and routine plant issues, supporting constructability of modifications.
- Conduct audits, observations, surveys, and assessments of plant activities such as maintenance and operations.
- Pursue opportunities to improve site human performance.
- Review and analyze plant operating characteristics and NRC/Industry correspondence to identify pertinent operating experiences.
- Review schedules and work orders to ensure efficient work implementation and technical adequacy of legacy engineering change packages.
- Champion ownership of design change improvements and cross-departmental interfaces.
- Demonstrate a solid commitment to all aspects of safety (nuclear, industrial, personal, radiological, etc.).
- Actively seek formal and informal learning opportunities to better understand technical policies, practices, and procedures.
- Develop effective working relationships within your work group and establish a professional network.
- Perform Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and duty team duties as assigned.
- Develop changes to existing design drawings or create new drawings.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (Electrical Engineering preferred).
- Experience with electrical and/or I&C systems design at a nuclear facility is preferred.
- Prior professional-level engineering experience is preferred.
- Prior plant design engineering experience, including experience with electrical, mechanical, and I&C components, is preferred.
- Ability to work independently in leadership and mentoring roles with minimal supervisory involvement is preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Prior experience with Electrical Transient Analysis Program (ETAP) and Microstation CAD Software is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong analytical ability.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with all employees.
- Able to deliver quality and accurate work within established deadlines.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to make formal technical presentations to various management levels.
- Ability to work extended hours, shift schedules, and perform on-call duties when necessary.

Final pay grade will be determined based on applicant's experience and qualifications.
