Design Drafter

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage design/drafting projects from concept to completion
• Affords assistance to Engineering staff with design projects and serves as a liaison between Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales departments
• Provides design solutions for design/development projects and product change requests
• Prepares product documentation, checks dimensions of parts, material to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to the whole structure. Drawings to include but not limited to the following: system/component model, installation/layout/weldment/assembly drawings, piece part drawings, and isometric drawings
• Utilizes red-lined drawings, engineering change requests, and any instructions supplied to prepare revised drawings incorporating dimensional change or pertinent data
• Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings
• Utilizes computer assisted drawings (2D/3D CAD) equipment and software
• Interacts with engineering and manufacturing personnel to solve any problems that may arise during the manufacturing process and to document the corrective action
• Participates in design reviews to determine the feasibility of proposed designs and offers opinions for product improvement

• Education/Experience: Minimum one-year college or trade school education in mechanical drawing and related areas with minimum of two years on-the-job experience or Minimum four years of on-the-job experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or comparable CAD software

• Language Skills: Ability to read and understand English instructions
• Mental Skills: Basic Algebra skills
