Design Director

Location: San Francisco, CA – US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $242,000 – $335,000 annually

This role will advance people and talent initiatives that strengthen organizational effectiveness, leadership capability, and employee experience. You will collaborate with business leaders, HR partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to align workforce priorities with business objectives. The position offers the opportunity to influence culture, talent strategy, and scalable people operations within a Business Services environment.

Responsibilities

• Set the design vision and quality standards for Spending, Savings, and Investing products
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of product designers to enhance their skills and impact
• Apply expert visual and interaction design to elevate the team's work and empower designers
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to define strategy and translate ideas into user experiences
• Think holistically to create seamless product journeys while addressing immediate user needs
• Leverage research and data insights to inform design decisions that resonate with members
• Promote design excellence and contribute to client's evolving design system and critique culture

Qualifications

• Experience leading high-performing product design teams for complex, consumer-facing digital products
• Portfolio showcasing exceptional visual and interaction design craft
• Track record of delivering compelling design visions across multiple interconnected experiences
• Deep expertise in product design and ability to balance strategy with intricate details
• Experience working with senior Product and Engineering leaders to influence product strategy
• Proven skills in coaching, feedback, and talent development within design teams
• Ability to articulate a clear design vision and navigate complex or ambiguous situations
