Design Consultant
Purpose
The Design Consultant at Floor & Decor is the entry point into design and is responsible for engaging customers on the sales floor to support their design projects, conducting design appointments, and partnering with store leaders to maximize sales goals.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
- 1+ years of retail/customer service experience
- High school diploma and/or GED
- Proficient in basic mathematical skills
- Self-motivated and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office suite
Essential Functions
- Greet store customers in a helpful manner and supports store design walk-in needs
- Schedule design appointments for existing and potential customers, while developing clientele through networking and referrals
- Provide tile, wood, stone and accessories advice to homeowners, interior designers, and builders for both residential and commercial projects
- Design and sell complete, functional and aesthetically appealing solutions
- Manage multiple, simultaneous customer projects through all phases with a high level of accuracy, timeliness and follow-up including consistent and concise communication to customers and others
- Proficient and consistent use of company communication tools and emails are required
- Collaborate, partner and communicate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry to installation, and achieve sales and other goals
- Enthusiastically support all company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees
- Understand and utilize design applications i.e.; Salesforce, proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, and MyProject
Working Conditions
- May require limited travel by car
- Exposure to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles
- Noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to noisy
- Moderate to heavy physical effort required
Physical/Sensory Requirements
- Ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Use hands and fingers to handle or feel
- Stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
