DESIGN CONSULTANT

About the role

Bassett Furniture is seeking positive, motivated professionals with a passion for interior design and exceptional selling skills to help customers bring their dream rooms to life. As a Bassett Design Consultant, you’ll build meaningful, long-term customer relationships using “relationship selling” techniques through interior design consultations and makeovers.

Responsibilities

• Engage customers to determine their needs based on taste, lifestyle, and investment range
• Create, present, and sell product and design solutions
• Conduct in-person makeovers at customers’ residences and businesses
• Perform virtual appointments and live chats
• Build a base of loyal clients through relationship selling
• Stay current on furniture construction and design trends
• Work as a supportive team member in a varied-paced retail environment

Requirements

• Willingness to work weekends and holidays
• Desire to work in a commissioned sales environment
• Ability to drive to customers’ residences and businesses
• Computer proficiency

Qualifications

• Passion for design and discerning eye for color and texture coordination
• Highly driven to meet or exceed sales goals
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Training

Bassett offers comprehensive training programs to help associates build meaningful careers, including:

• In-depth product knowledge and sales techniques
• Design skills and client relationship-building through online classes, videos, hands-on activities, and one-on-one coaching
• Interior Design certification training
• Continuing education opportunities throughout your career

Pay

Generous commission-based compensation plan with income potential averaging $70,000–$105,000 per year for experienced consultants. Top performers can earn up to $135,000 annually. Additional bonus opportunities are available beyond base commission (paid on written business).
