DESIGN CONSULTANT

About the role

Bassett Furniture is seeking positive, motivated professionals with a passion for interior design and exceptional selling skills to help customers bring their dream rooms to life. As a Design Consultant, you’ll use “relationship selling” techniques through interior design consultations and makeovers to build long-term customer relationships and maximize sales opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful and long-term customer relationships through interior design consultations and makeovers.
• Use comprehensive knowledge of furniture construction and design trends to engage customers and determine their needs based on taste, lifestyle, and investment range.
• Create, present, and sell product and design solutions.
• Conduct in-home or business makeovers, virtual appointments, and live chats.
• Translate customer wants into design choices by listening and coordinating colors, textures, and styles.
• Work as a supportive team member in a varied-paced retail environment.
• Thrive in a commissioned sales environment with a willingness to work weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Passion for design and a creative personality.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a friendly, outgoing personality.

• Proven track record of success in sales.

Training

• Interior Design certification training.

Pay

This role features a generous commission-based compensation plan, with income potential limited only by effort. Experienced Bassett Design Consultants average $70,000–$105,000 per year, with top performers earning up to $135,000 annually. Additional bonus opportunities are available beyond base commission (paid on written business).
