Design/Construction Project Manager III - Sacramento CA
This individual contributor role oversees all phases of design and/or construction for basic-to-moderately complex projects (typically $25–50 million cumulative budget). Responsibilities include defining project parameters, managing cross-functional teams, establishing scope/budget/schedule, and ensuring Kaiser Permanente’s client-service goals are met throughout design, construction, and close-out. The position also guides medical/regional facility design, negotiates fees, reviews invoices/change orders, secures permits, and supervises on-site teams while communicating progress to leadership.
Responsibilities

- Monitor project financials, performance (time, budget, scope, quality), and provide cost/budget justifications.
- Lead organizational change management (e.g., user adoption, training, implementation plans).
- Allocate resources, establish schedules, and assign tasks; lead and guide project team members.
- Coordinate internal/external resources based on team skills and project demands.
- Promote project vision and objectives; provide feedback to team members.
- Identify, monitor, and mitigate project risks/issues; resolve or escalate as needed.
- Ensure adherence to KP, departmental, and business-line policies.
- Align and coordinate diverse stakeholders (teams, vendors, management) by clarifying accountability and authority.
- Develop project goals, prioritize deliverables, and facilitate decisions for project delivery.
- Communicate complex issues to stakeholders while maintaining independent recommendations.
- Review vendor performance and ensure service-level agreements are met.
- Support contract negotiations and review vendor invoices for accuracy.
Requirements
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in construction and/or design project management.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university and minimum three (3) years of project management experience or minimum six (6) years of project management experience in a directly related field.

Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience in an integrated healthcare delivery system.

Pay
$109,000 – $141,020 per year. Kaiser Permanente offers a market-competitive total rewards package, with pay determined by labor market data, internal alignment, and candidate qualifications (experience, education, certifications, skills, and location).
Schedule
- Full-time (40 hours/week).
- Shift: Day (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
- Travel: Up to 20% of the time.
- Work setting: Onsite (worker location must align with Kaiser Permanente’s Authorized States policy).
