About the role
Warfel Construction Company is currently seeking a Design-Build Specialist to join their Virtual Design & Coordination (VDC) team based in East Petersburg, PA.
Responsibilities
- Own the execution of assigned VDC scope on design-build projects, with responsibility for planning, completion, and validation of required deliverables in alignment with project objectives
- Apply Warfel's BIM Execution Plans, Standard Operating Procedures, BIM Standards, and VDC workflows consistently, exercising judgment to interpret and apply standards appropriately to project conditions
- Develop, manage, and maintain 3D / 4D / 5D models through design and construction phases, ensuring models are accurate, coordinated, and suitable for their intended use
- Translate early design concepts into schematic and design development models that align with approved budgets, schedules, and constructability expectations, identifying misalignments and escalating as needed
- Cookordinate model-based constructability reviews and multidisciplinary coordination activities with design consultants, internal teams, and trade partners, taking responsibility for driving assigned coordination items to resolution
- Maintain accountability for model quality, organization, and level of development, confirming readiness prior to milestone submissions, coordination reviews, or downstream consumption
- Contribute to and, when appropriate, facilitate design charrettes, value management discussions, and client-facing model reviews within assigned scope
- Follow established BIM/VDC QA/QC procedures and take ownership of verifying that assigned deliverables meet quality standards before being marked complete
- Integrate reality capture data (e.g., LiDAR scans, drone imagery) into models as required, validating alignment with existing conditions and design documentation
- Identify coordination risks, constructability issues, and scope gaps within assigned responsibilities, and exercise authority to recommend solutions and next steps
- Document task completion, coordination status, decisions, and lessons learned in a manner that supports transparency, accountability, and future process improvement
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum Associate Degree in Applied Science in Construction Management, Building Science Engineering, Architectural, or Engineering related fields
- A minimum of two years' experience as an innovative technologist, in the fields of 3D Modeling and Design relating to the architectural, civil, or construction industry is desired. Expertise in design-build processes is preferred
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position majority of the time
- May need to occasionally move around the inside of the office to access file cabinets, manage copiers and other business materials, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as iPhone & iPad, copy machine, or printer
- Occasional need to lift or move up to 20 lbs within an office/field environment
