Design Associate - Footwear

General Summary

This position assists the Designer and Design Director in the day-to-day operations of the design department.

Major Responsibilities

• Create swatch books for all fabrics and trim used in design
• Maintain an up-to-date picture record of all samples and an up-to-date file of all names and style numbers
• Check in all orders received and handle all shipping
• Keep all sample rooms organized
• Track all sample orders and ad samples
• Collaborate in sketching and detailing
• Collaborate in designing the product line
• Create line sheets
• Preparation of correspondences, spreadsheets, and forms
• Communicate with vendors
• Assist in the confirmation process
• Assist in brand direction and trend forecasting
• Domestic and international travel
• Special projects as needed
• Other duties as required

Education and Experience

• College degree in Arts/Fashion preferred
• 2-4 years experience in the field
• Creative background a plus
• Ability to sketch and CAD
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, Photoshop, and Illustrator
