Design Assistant
Full-time, exempt position reporting to the Design Director, based at Z SUPPLY Headquarters in Costa Mesa, CA. Hybrid schedule: 4 days in-office, 1 day remote.
About the role
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Design Assistant to join our creative team. In this role, you will work directly with the Design Director and the Merchandising and Design team across various tasks, assisting at key points throughout the development season. You will also maintain and manage the fabric library/boards, color library/palettes, inspiration and proto samples, and various seasonal design documents.
Responsibilities
- Assist with sketch updates including color and/or print updates as well as detail and trim updates
- Assist Design Director and Merchandising & Design Team with seasonal documents
- Create, update, and maintain seasonal R&D documents
- Create, update, and maintain production handover documents for each division
- Create, update, and maintain product description documents for each division and collaborate with Ecomm and Sales teams to see the document through the process
- Create, update, and maintain seasonal color palettes—both digital and physical
- Compile key color trend directions utilizing multiple forecasting platforms and runway
- Keep color samples updated, organized, and in delivery order
- Pull Pantone options to color match to bought samples, mood boards, etc.
- Calibrate color palette to match Pantones and/or samples
- Create all files for seasonal color palette and add Pantone information
- Research color name ideas and assess availability on Full Circle
- Prepare new fabric development swatches each season and build and maintain seasonal fabric books with vendor details for department reference
- Assist Design Team with seasonal style names by cross-checking new names on our website, B2Z, and style number documents, keeping the style name list up to date
- Help create digital or physical mood boards when needed
- Assist Design Director and Product Development team to prepare for key seasonal milestone meetings
- Assist Product Development team with gathering and organizing proto samples, lab dips, and strike-offs
- Organize and maintain inspiration samples
- Perform other various duties for the Design Director and Department as needed
Requirements
- Proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop, and Google Workspace; Centric PLM and Full Circle experience a plus
- Super organized and detail-oriented
- Excellent team player with the ability to be supportive and collaborative across multiple team members and departments
- Creative thinker who can brainstorm innovative ideas and strategies to support brand initiatives
- Excellent communicator
- Design school graduate
- 1-2+ years of related experience a plus

Pay
Annual base salary range: $60,000 – $68,000. To determine starting pay within the hiring range, we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location, role/level, a candidate’s skills, experience, market demands, internal parity, and other relevant factors. Flexibility outside of the salary range listed may be considered based on additional skills or qualifications a candidate may possess.
