The Design and Engineering Site Lead role is responsible for overseeing technical design activities, coordinating engineering resources, and ensuring that network solutions meet operational requirements and established standards. Key accountabilities include:
- Oversight of technical design activities
- Coordination of engineering resources
- Ensuring network solutions meet operational requirements and established standards
- Developing engineering assessments for different network configurations
- Supporting user satisfaction and contributing to network architecture decisions
- Leading technical resources through network design upgrades, configuration development, implementation planning, testing, and documentation activities
- Preparing milestone reports, technical presentations, system concepts, and project documentation for internal teams and stakeholders
- Ensuring compliance with established engineering processes, documentation standards, and review procedures throughout project execution
- Producing site-specific reports, drawings, and technical submissions while supporting approval and dissemination processes
- Supporting network deployment activities, including staging, pre-configuration, cutover execution, and validation testing
- Providing technical recommendations for major system installations and infrastructure improvements
Requirements
- Extensive experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale network environments
- Strong technical knowledge of routing, switching, and infrastructure modernization
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience with at least 10 years of experience in a similar engineering role
- Active Cisco CCNA certification required
- Experience designing and configuring Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks, including VLANs, spanning tree, VRFs, VXLANs, VNIs, and software-defined networking concepts
- Strong knowledge of Cisco networking equipment, configurations, and enterprise network architectures
- Experience developing network upgrade plans, configurations, cutover strategies, documentation, and system testing procedures
- Ability to direct technical resources and coordinate engineering activities across complex projects
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality products on schedule or ahead of deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively with teams across different backgrounds, skill levels, and functions
- Active Secret Clearance or higher required
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time for domestic and potentially international deployments
Preferred Qualifications
- Cisco CCNP and/or CCDP certification
- Experience with Passive Optical Networking (PON)
- Familiarity with Juniper networking equipment and network management solutions
- Experience with Cisco Prime, IT PIE, and military network design standards
- Knowledge of large-scale government or defense network environments
