Design and Construction Integration Manager

About the role

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Design & Construction Integration Manager to connect the owner, final‑design team, and construction delivery partners on a major program. In this senior owner‑side role, you will convert design intent, contractor preconstruction input, commercial decisions, and third‑party constraints into coordinated work packages that can be credibly priced, procured, staged, and built. You will lead contract‑packaging strategy, constructability and staging, design‑readiness gates, and interface control from final design through early construction.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the owner‑side integration lead among the final designer, GCCM and other construction delivery partners, commercial management, project controls, systems integration, third parties, and field delivery teams.
• Develop and maintain contract packaging strategies, including early works and major construction packages.
• Lead structured constructability, access, staging, temporary‑works, logistics, and means‑and‑methods reviews; convert contractor input into assigned design actions with documented disposition and closure.
• Integrate GCCM preconstruction deliverables with design development, independent estimating, procurement, risk retirement, sequencing, and construction execution, including estimate and schedule reconciliation at commercial commitment points.
• Establish and administer design‑readiness and package‑release milestones based on scope definition, quantities, interfaces, permits, access, retained risks, third‑party commitments, and pricing assumptions, not design percentage alone.
• Own interface control across civil, stations, track, rail systems, utilities, structures, and third‑party work packages, including tie‑ins to existing and adjacent infrastructure.
• Identify and resolve scope gaps, overlaps, owner‑retained responsibilities, access dependencies, acceptance criteria, and cross‑package risks before they affect procurement, pricing, construction, testing, or commissioning.
