About the role
This role can be based remotely within one of our US hiring hubs; Atlanta, California, Chicago, Austin or Dallas Texas, or located in proximity to our offices in New York or Walnut Creek. Our US Media team sits at the forefront of one of the most dynamic areas of underwriting. With one of the broadest books of media business in the market, we work with clients across the creative and digital economy, helping them navigate complex and emerging risks.
Responsibilities
- Taking a holistic approach to risk, writing across multiple lines including Media Liability, Errors and Omissions, Cyber and General Liability.
- Playing a key role in growing our US presence by building strong broker relationships, developing new business opportunities and delivering profitable solutions.
- Combining technical expertise with relationship building and market development.
- Responding to broker enquiries and producing quotations within agreed timeframes.
- Building and evolving a broker network, through both in person and virtual engagement, to generate growth beyond existing relationships.
- Working closely with specialist underwriting teams across the business to structure tailored programmes for clients and support cross selling across the product suite.
- Contributing to product development, including supporting the development of an admitted media offering and raising awareness of new and enhanced products.
- Representing CFC externally by delivering presentations to brokers and clients on media exposures and emerging trends, as well as internally by sharing expertise and supporting junior team members.
- Contributing to wider team initiatives, helping to shape underwriting strategy, improve processes and support continued growth.
- Involving in travel across the US to build relationships with brokers and clients.
Requirements
You are an experienced Media/Professional Liability/Entertainment underwriter who enjoys working in a fast paced, growth focused environment where you can combine technical expertise with commercial thinking. You will bring experience in media, professional indemnity or related specialty lines, with exposure to multiple classes of business preferred. You are comfortable analysing complex risks and making informed decisions, with strong attention to detail and commercial awareness. You are confident and articulate, with strong relationship building skills and the ability to present to a range of audiences. You are self driven and enjoy working to targets and deadlines, while managing multiple priorities. Above all, you are a team player who will contribute to a collaborative, high performing culture.
Qualifications
You have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as insurance, actuarial science, or a related discipline. You have at least 5 years of experience in underwriting, preferably in media, professional liability, or entertainment. You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build strong relationships with clients and brokers. You have a strong understanding of insurance principles and practices, and the ability to analyze complex risks and make informed decisions. You are proficient in using Microsoft Office and other relevant software tools.
