Responsibilities include cultivating supplier relationships, formulating long‑term sourcing strategies, developing master agreements, and managing a compliant, scalable supplier ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Act as strategic advisor to DER leadership and project teams, translating business goals into supply chain strategies and navigating commodity volatility, lead‑time fluctuations, technology obsolescence, and policy/regulatory requirements (e.g., IRA, domestic content, trade tariffs).
  • Identify, build, and manage key partnerships with suppliers; negotiate to secure quality, price, and availability of goods, raw materials, equipment, supplies, and services.
  • Lead sourcing and procurement activities, including supplier evaluations, contract negotiations, logistics, delivery planning, and oversight/approval of ordering.
  • Control spend and foster a culture of long‑term cost savings.
  • Design and execute Master Supply Agreements (MSAs) that enable scalability, address long‑term asset performance, warranties, and liquidated damages, and curate preferred‑partner networks across key DER/EPC suppliers.
  • Ensure DER sourcing aligns with Enterprise Procurement governance and policy, serving as the conduit between DER and Enterprise Procurement to leverage enterprise scale.
  • Implement supplier governance to monitor safety, ESG, and performance compliance; proactively manage supplier health and capacity to prevent bottlenecks.
  • May directly manage one or more direct reports.

  • DER technologies and delivery models (BESS, controls, inverters/PCS, transformers/switchgear, civil/installation, commissioning/O&M) and EPC partner/OEM structuring.
  • Policy, regulatory, and trade compliance affecting DER sourcing (IRA/ITC/PTC, domestic content, tariffs) and ability to translate these into supplier/contract requirements.
  • Commercial structuring and contract governance (MPAs/MSAs) covering warranties, performance guarantees, liquidated damages, change control, and long‑term asset obligations.
  • Supply risk and resiliency strategies to mitigate commodity volatility, lead‑time constraints, capacity bottlenecks, and technology obsolescence.
  • Supplier governance, safety, and ESG practices, including scorecards, QBRs, and risk/compliance frameworks.
  • Market intelligence, benchmarking, and analytics to build should‑cost/TCO views and drive performance insights.

Abilities

  • Strategic thinking to develop and execute long‑term category strategies aligned with business and sustainability goals.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration with engineering, legal, finance, and project teams.
  • Complex negotiation skills for commercial and risk terms with OEMs and EPC partners.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, capable of presenting complex information clearly.
  • Project management to handle multiple sourcing initiatives in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ambiguity tolerance and agility to adapt strategy based on shifting market signals, policy updates, and DER priorities.
