Responsibilities
- Conduct examinations to evaluate applicants' qualifications.
- Pass a rigorous physical and psychological examination.
- Obtain a valid California Class C Driver's License.
- Complete a background investigation, including fingerprinting.
- Pass a pre-employment polygraph and psychological evaluation.
- Meet vision and hearing standards.
- Be at least 21 years old by the final filing date.
- Have a good moral character and no felony law violations.
Requirements
- Valid California Class C Driver's License.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- P.O.S.T. approved Police or Sheriff's Academy graduation.
- At least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
- Free from any physical, emotional, or mental conditions that might affect the exercise of peace officer powers.
- Free from any criminal history that would disqualify the individual from being appointed as a peace officer.

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must pass a background investigation and pre-employment polygraph and psychological evaluation.
- Must be found satisfactory on the Background Evaluation.

- Shift Differential: The County will pay shift differential pay of 7.5% of base pay for any time worked between 9:00 PM and 7:00 AM.
- Uniform Allowance: $1,300 annually.
- Bilingual Pay: $25 bi-weekly for qualified employees.
- Health Benefits: County contributes 80% of cost for all health plans.
- EAP – No Cost Retirement Benefits: Tier 2B: 2% @ age 50.
- Deferred Compensation Program: Deferred Compensation : 457 plan which allows employees to contribute on a pre-tax basis to a supplemental retirement account which is then paid out to them when they retire.

- Deputy Sheriff – C — Salary Range 68.1 ($39.23 - $47.12)
- Deputy Sheriff – CA — Salary Range 69.5 ($42.07 - $50.28)
