About the role
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is seeking professional, dedicated individuals who are interested in a position in law enforcement, specifically as a Correctional Deputy working 42-hours per week. Loudoun County is one of the fastest growing Counties in the Commonwealth of Virginia and offers a competitive salary and benefits package as well as a relocation bonus for those residing more than 50 roadway miles from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Administrative Building; and an additional annual stipend of $3,000.00 for sworn employees working in the Adult Detention Center.
Responsibilities
All selected applicants, who are not currently Virginia jailer certified, must satisfactorily complete a Virginia basic academy upon hire. Additionally, all applicants must successfully complete the department's Corrections Training Officer Program. Loudoun County Sheriff's Office offers numerous specialized positions within the agency upon successful completion of all required training.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- U.S. Citizen
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have a current valid driver's license
Preferred qualifications are a college degree, prior law enforcement experience, and/or military experience.
Qualifications and Skills
The selection process includes review of Applicant Supplemental Questionnaire and County employment application, an in-person background interview, physical abilities testing, panel interview, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, medical physical examination to include drug screening, and an intensive background investigation to include fingerprinting, credit check, and driving record check.
Benefits
This position is eligible for a $6,000 hiring bonus in accordance with the Hiring and Retention policy. An additional annual stipend of $3,000.00 is provided for sworn employees working in the Adult Detention Center. A relocation bonus is also offered for those residing more than 50 roadway miles from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Administrative Building.
Schedule
The Sheriff's Office provides service to the community 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. All sworn employees must be able to work any and all shifts as assigned.
