Preview Proceed to Checkout Pay Later Cancel Full-time Employment ◄ Back to All Categories Deputy Register of Deeds - Beaufort County Register of Deeds Description of Work: Performs a variety of clerical work of a legal nature in recording, organizing, and maintaining legal documents in the Register of Deeds Office. Daily tasks include but not limited to assisting professionals and the public with real estate recordings, issuing marriage licenses, and vital records requests, including reviewing, inspecting, issuing, certifying, amending, etc., and determining and collecting fees for services. Work also involves filing records, balancing daily fees received, preparing correspondence, and other clerical duties, as assigned. Reports to the Register of Deeds. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong computer skills and the ability to navigate through network settings and demonstrate abilities with computer operating systems; ability to organize and prioritize work; strong attention to detail; outstanding communication and customer service skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Must be able to bend and lift up to 20 lbs. Ability to perform under pressure of frequent interruptions. Qualifications: Graduation from high school including business courses and some experience in a Register of Deeds Office or in a similar public contact and records function requiring use of office technology and accuracy; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer applicant with: High school graduate with 2 years of clerical experience with public contact, preferably in legal or banking setting, paralegal or applicant with experience in a real estate or attorney’s office. Bilingual abilities is a plus. Notary certification or ability to obtain Notary certification.
