About the role

The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is currently looking to fill the position of Deputy Prosecutor I, II or III. This position directs a juvenile or criminal caseload and is responsible for accomplishing those legal assignments delegated by the Prosecuting Attorney including legal opinions, analysis of legal principles and litigation outcome in criminal matters involving prosecution of the criminally accused on behalf of the State of Washington while maintaining the highest degree of ethical conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Directs a juvenile or criminal caseload
  • Completes legal assignments delegated by the Prosecuting Attorney
  • Provides legal opinions and analyses of legal principles
  • Litigates outcomes in criminal matters
  • Prosecutes criminally accused on behalf of the State of Washington
  • Maintains the highest degree of ethical conduct

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Admission to the Washington State Bar Association
  • Completion of a minimum of 45 hours of continuing legal education every three (3) years per the WSBA guidelines
  • Continuous admission to the Washington State Bar Association during employment
  • Experience:
  • DPA I - Zero (0) to two (2) years prior criminal, civil, or juvenile trial experience required
  • DPA II - Three (3) to five (5) or more years criminal or juvenile legal experience, including prior appellate experience
  • DPA III - Five (5) or more years criminal or juvenile legal experience, including prior appellate issue experience

Pay

  • Exempt Full-time positions
  • Salary ranges based on experience levels

  • 12 days of vacation to start, 11 paid holidays, sick leave and bereavement leave
