Deputy Hardware Lead
About the role
BAE Systems is seeking a technical leader to assist in leading advanced program pursuits in a Deputy Hardware Lead role. You will be assisting and leading a group of highly skilled electrical, computer and mechanical engineers. This role involves working with the Countermeasure & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions team, which provides next-generation threat detection and countermeasure solutions enhancing mission survivability.
Responsibilities
- Assisting in leading multi-discipline, state-of-the-art hardware teams of 20+ people through the hardware engineering design and development
- Employing your expertise, decision skills, and independent judgment in technical areas
- Leading Design Review activities to achieve program success
- Communicating essential information and coordinating with engineering disciplines, Procurement, Operations, and Program Management
- Developing program schedules, earned value criteria, and productivity metrics for efficient performance
- Ensuring the established Hardware Development Process is implemented successfully
- Supporting important program capture and proposal teams with hardware baselines that include development and cost/scheduling estimating
- Working with Discipline Section Leads to determine program staffing needs and “right person/right job”
Requirements
- BSEE or BSME with commensurate experience leading engineering teams
- Possesses solid technical leadership skills for multi-disciplinary engineering teams engaged in the design and development of state-of-the-art electro-mechanical products
- Experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring project schedules, budgets, and productivity metrics to ensure efficient team performance
- Experience implementing an established Hardware Engineering design processes to achieve product quality and consistency
- Possesses sound interpersonal communication skills involving interfacing with company personnel, customers, and suppliers
- Possesses the ability to develop and implement and lead others to closure design solutions within budget and schedule
Qualifications
- Eligible to obtain a DOD Security Clearance
Skills
Preferred: Certification for Earned Value Management System (EVMS) project management techniques, Designing to cost (DTUPC) constraints, Design for manufacturability, Experience developing compact embedded systems for harsh environments, Familiarity with AS9145 compliant processes, Experience with Electronic Warfare systems, radar systems, Active Secret Clearance
