Deputy Fire Chief

About the role

The Township of Selwyn is seeking applications for various positions including Arena Attendant (Part Time), Canteen Server, and Deputy Fire Chief.

Responsibilities

• General custodial and maintenance duties within and surrounding recreational facilities for Arena Attendant (Part Time)
• Assist with facility set-up/takedown and operation for functions, reception, and event rentals for Arena Attendant (Part Time)
• Perform general and custodial maintenance tasks such as cleaning stands, removing debris, mopping, cleaning dressing rooms, moving nets for ice resurfacing, etc., for Arena Attendant (Part Time)
• Work independently and in a team environment, providing professional service to the public and representing the municipality, for Arena Attendant (Part Time)
• Supervise the operation of the Fire Department, ensuring effective and efficient operations, enforcing legislation, and ensuring fire safety, for Deputy Fire Chief
• Provide leadership, supervision, and management of volunteer firefighters, for Deputy Fire Chief

Requirements

• Can-do attitude and availability for late-evening and weekend hours for Arena Attendant (Part Time)
• Prior experience working in an arena environment and/or working with the public in a customer service role for Arena Attendant (Part Time)
• Experience in a customer service role with cash handling experience for Canteen Server
• Certification in Safe Food Handling procedures and Health and Safety Awareness training for Workers for Canteen Server
• Minimum five (5) years’ related experience in a supervisory role within a fire service and competent leadership and management skills for Deputy Fire Chief
• Education in Administration, Management, or Business, or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience for Deputy Fire Chief
• Firefighter I and II, Fire Officer I II and III, Fire Inspector I, Fire Investigator, Public Educator, and Fire Instructor I & II certifications for Deputy Fire Chief
• Knowledge of modern firefighting, rescue, and fire prevention principles, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Fire Prevention and Protection Act, and NFPA, CSA, ULC and other standards for Deputy Fire Chief
• First aid, CPR, defibrillation, and oxygen therapy certification and valid Class “D” licence with “Z” endorsement for Deputy Fire Chief

• Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment for Arena Attendant (Part Time)
• Good communication skills and professional demeanor for Arena Attendant (Part Time)
• Initiative, customer focus, and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment for Canteen Server
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills for Deputy Fire Chief
• Teamwork and supervisory experience with volunteer firefighters for Deputy Fire Chief

Benefits

• Varies based on the position and the Employment Standards Act, 2000 for Arena Attendant (Part Time)
• Based on minimum wage (as determined by the Employment Standards Act, 2000) for Canteen Server
• Salary range of $90,854 to $110,552, based on a 40-hour work week for Deputy Fire Chief

• Based on the Employment Standards Act, 2000 for Canteen Server
• Based on the Employment Standards Act, 2000 for Deputy Fire Chief
