The Fresno County District Attorney's Office is seeking experienced legal professionals to fill the position of Deputy District Attorney (DDA). The office offers rewarding and challenging career opportunities to those demonstrating exemplary performance.
Responsibilities
Deputy District Attorneys may be assigned to specialized units such as the Homicide Unit, MAGEC Gang Unit, Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Unit, and others. Additional compensation is provided for assignments involving Officer Involved Shootings/In-Custody Deaths.
Requirements
- License: Active membership, in good standing, in the State Bar of California.
- Experience:
- DDA I: One (1) year of full-time, paid work experience as a practicing attorney.
- DDA II: One (1) year of full-time, paid work experience as a practicing attorney.
- DDA III: Two (2) years of full-time, paid work experience as a practicing attorney.
- DDA IV: Three (3) years of full-time, paid work experience as a practicing attorney.

Benefits
- Performance Allowance: Specialized assignments may receive an allowance as detailed below.
- Specialization Incentive: A three and one-half percent (3.5%) salary increase for completing certification through the California Bar as a Criminal Law Specialist or Domestic Law Specialist.
- Officer Involved Shootings/In-Custody Deaths: Additional compensation at the rate of $1,000 per assignment for Deputy District Attorney IV/Senior assigned to the Officer Involved Shooting Team.
Pay
- Annual Salaries: DDA I: $77,480 - $98,852; DDA II: $90,428 - $115,414; DDA III: $108,498 - $138,502; DDA IV: $126,984 - $162,058.
- Scheduled Salary Increases: Effective 6/22/26: 5% for DDA I; 4% for DDA II & III; 3% for DDA IV. Effective 12/21/26: 4% for DDA I & II; 2% for DDA III & IV. Effective 6/7/27: 4% for DDA I & II; 2% for DDA III & IV.
Schedule
The Fresno County District Attorney's Office operates Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., excluding holidays.
