About the role

This is a Department Promotional Examination and is open to eligible employees of the Department of Agriculture and Measurement Standards. Appraisal (100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of evaluating the applicant's training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position. Appraisal can be based on any of the following: investigating, oral exam and/or review of application. Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process. Examination components for promotional testing will be administered during scheduled date(s)/time(s)/location(s) without exception.

Responsibilities

  • Investigating agricultural and/or weights and measures laws and regulations.
  • Ensuring compliance with agricultural and/or weights and measures laws and regulations.
  • Conducting oral exams as part of the examination process.
  • Reviewing applications as part of the examination process.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university that meets the minimum qualifications established by the California Secretary of Agriculture.
  • Possession of valid County Deputy Agricultural Commissioner license OR County Deputy Sealer of Weights and Measures license.
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in the enforcement of agricultural and/or weights and measures laws and regulations.
  • Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license is required. A Class A or Class B California driver's license may be required depending upon assignment.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
  • Admittance to the examination will require a valid government issued photograph identification.
  • A background check may be conducted for this classification.
