Deputy Director
About the role
The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Public Buildings Division, Architecture Unit seeks a Deputy Director. The selected candidate will be responsible for supervising a team of senior architects who are dedicated to project scoping, review of projects designed by consultants, In-House Design efforts, and general technical support for the agency. Other key responsibilities include development of the unit’s policies and procedures, project tracking, preparation of performance evaluations, and other administrative tasks as needed. In addition, the candidate will assist the Associate Commissioner and Director in developing the Unit’s strategic planning and attending high-level project meetings with client sponsors, Commissioners, and oversight Agency heads when required.
Responsibilities

Requirements
- A valid New York State Registration as an Architect
- Six (6) years of full-time paid experience in architectural work, at least two (2) years of which shall have been as an administrative architect
Preferred Skills
- Excellent management skills
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
- At least four years of experience in a managerial, administrative, or supervisory position
