Deputy County Attorney, Civil Division

The purpose

The purpose of the Deputy County Attorney, Civil Division is to provide competent legal advice and representation to the Board of Supervisors (BOS) and other County elected officials and to assist the County Attorney in all civil matters.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and representation for assigned County bodies as well as legal revision and approval of the County's legal contracts.
• Prosecute all civil actions involving the County and defend the County in all civil actions not covered by the County insurance risk pool.
• Assist County Attorney in other assigned tasks and act for County Attorney in assigned adjudicative proceedings.
• Provide consultation to newer attorneys within County Attorneys Office.

Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who have:

• A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• At least 5 years of experience as a practicing attorney.
• Experience working with County bodies and elected officials.
• Experience in civil litigation and contract law.
