Deputy Chief Nursing Officer

Purpose of Position

Purpose of Position: Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, participates in the development and implementation of all health care setting nursing education programs, operational standards, policies, procedures, and strategies, and an effective and ongoing program to monitor, evaluate and improve the quality of patient care.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Promotes and supports systems and programs to drive change and improve employee engagement.
• Collaborates with other disciplines to ensure that care is comprehensive, coordinated, and monitored for effectiveness, and continually assesses health care needs, including equipment, systems and software, to ensure optimal service outcomes and continued support for the health care system’s mission, vision and values.
• Interprets and maintains adherence to regulations and legislation and responds to bioethical, public policy, and legal issues that may influence the delivery of patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
• A Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration or a related field.
• Six (6) years of satisfactory nursing experience, including four (4) years of progressive nursing management experience.
• A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• All candidates must have at least a Baccalaureate Degree or higher in Nursing, and be licensed and currently registered to practice as an RN in New York State.
