Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide security for the Court.
- Secure Court sessions by providing protection and assistance for Court personnel and the public.
- Absorb and process necessary documentation to execute Court orders.
- Assist the Judge or Magistrate in conducting Court sessions and ensuring the daily operation of the Bailiff's Department.
- Enforce orders of the Court through service of Court papers and clerical processing of said documents, including garnishments, attachments, examinations, contempt citations, criminal warrants, summonses, and subpoenas.
- Provide quality service that continuously improves, meets or exceeds public expectations, and ensures all are treated with courtesy, dignity, and respect.
Minimum Qualifications
- Eligible and able to pass Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA).
- Valid Ohio Driver’s License and proof of current liability insurance.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize duties.
- High school graduate or equivalent required. Two years of full-time post-secondary education at an accredited college or university preferred, or two years of experience providing security in a court system or as a law enforcement officer.
Physical Demands
- The ability to stand, walk at least six (6) hours per day.
- The ability to push and pull up to 75 pounds and lift at least fifty (50) pounds at any given time.
Work Environment
- The ability to meet the physical demands of the job including, but not limited to, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and interacting with the public.
Court Expectations
- Adhere to the mission and values of the Court as well as all Court policies and procedures.
- Model high ethical conduct on and off the job.
- Exhibit a professional and respectful demeanor with all Court employees.

- Proof of education and employment references will be required before final interview.
- Employment predicated upon successful completion of criminal record check and drug testing required.
- You'll be considered a probationary employee for your first 180 days of employment.
