Deputy Attorney General I - V Civil, Affirmative Litigation Unit, NCC

Civil Division

The Civil Division, Affirmative Litigation Unit, New Castle County, seeks a highly motivated and committed Deputy Attorney General to serve as general counsel to the Unemployment Insurance Appeal Board (UIAB), the Family and Medical Leave Insurance Appeal Board (FMLIAB), and to administratively prosecute profession licensees who violate the laws of their professions.

Essential Functions

• Review appeals to the Boards for timeliness
• Attend hearings and provide legal advice during the hearings
• Draft decisions and orders
• Perform legal research
• Represent the Boards in appeals to the Superior Court
• Afford assistance with other legal matters as needed
• As an administrative prosecutor, present evidence in adversarial proceedings to prove allegations of the professional misconduct and seek disciplinary sanctions

Job Requirements

• Strong legal writing skills
• Ability to anticipate and properly address legal issues
• Ability to conduct accurate and effective legal research
• Ability to provide sound legal advice
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and develop good working relationships with board members, other DAGs and support staff
• Membership in the Delaware Bar is required
