About the role

The purpose of this classification is to provide professional level human resources support and to serve as a human resources liaison to an assigned department.

Responsibilities

  • Posts job openings and screens candidate applications
  • Coordinates interview process and assists in interviewing candidates
  • Obtains required documentation and coordinates pre-employment process
  • Provides related information regarding benefits, work locations, and other items
  • Reviews and enters timesheets into timekeeping system
  • Maintains time sheet records and leave reports
  • Prints and reviews payroll registers and makes corrections
  • Recommends salary adjustments and increases
  • Responds to inquiries and conducts research
  • Provides technical analysis and makes appropriate recommendations
  • Educates staff on payroll/personnel policies and procedures
  • Affirms impact of changes in laws and regulations on department policies and procedures
  • Processes FMLA and Donation of Leave requests
  • Maintains related documentation and records
  • Prepares data and compiles reports
  • Assists with adjustments or corrections for work/leave time
  • Sets up and processes employee documentation for various benefit changes and updates
  • Requisitions positions, processes new hires, and coordinates departmental orientation
  • Maintains confidential files and documents
  • Communicates with and submits departmental employee documentation regarding various employee benefit changes and updates
  • May review and approve timesheet and leave data for the processing of payroll
  • Participates in employee development processes
  • Serves as a primary contact with Human Resources, Payroll, and Information Technology on various payroll/personnel processing matters
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Management, Psychology, or related field required
  • Supplemented by three years of experience in human resources or related field
  • Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job

Physical Abilities

  • Exercises discretion in determining data classification and referencing such analysis to established standards for the purpose of recognizing actual or probable interactive effects and relationships
  • Utilizes a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and/or advisory data and information
  • Exerts light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds)
  • Works with and applies principles of persuasion and/or influence over others to coordinate programs or activities of a project, and resolve typical problems associated with the responsibilities of the job
  • Operates, maneuvers and/or controls the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions

Environmental Factors

  • Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dust, pollen and smoke
