About the role
Department Supervisor is responsible for directing all day-to-day shift activities within their departments in a 24/7 multi-cultural, non-union manufacturing operation. The role involves managing continuous improvement projects, R&D for new product development, CAPA (corrective and preventive actions), new hire development, associate accountability, performance reviews, audit documentation, adherence to policies and procedures, accident reporting, and operational efficiencies.
Responsibilities
- Identify associate and food safety concerns and initiate internal CAPA.
- Coach and mentor department leads to become supervisors.
- Conduct accident and incident reporting investigations.
- Identify quality issues and initiate external CAPA.
- Create weekly staffing requirements based on the planning schedule.
- Communicate daily updates to department leads.
- Enforce adherence to Continuous Improvement Policies and Procedures.
- Hold associates accountable for performance and development.
- Support R&D for new product development and QA initiatives.
- Maintain accurate department inventory.
- Provide proper documentation and validate employee work documents.
- Develop new hires and ensure their integration into the team.
- Close Batch Orders and investigate any pending issues.
- Facilitate smooth shift changes.
- Provide support to other departments to achieve GNC priorities.
- Maintain ownership of all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) within areas of responsibility.
- Optimize operating efficiencies.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively.
- Facilitate meetings and ensure high-level communication.
- Multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- 2-year associate degree or 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience coaching and training associates.
- Active member of a Safety Committee.
- Active role in GNC Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Ability to delegate responsibilities effectively.
- Detail-oriented and results-driven.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with associate accountability and performance measurement.
- Proficiency in computer skills (above average).
- Experience with audit documentation.
- Ability to facilitate meetings and multitask.
