Department of War (DOW) Financial Management Consultant
About the role
This role supports federal clients in optimizing their finance organizations, focusing on areas like audit readiness, accounting, logistics, property management, civilian pay, and procurement. The team assists with audit remediation activities, performs recurring testing, and provides targeted support based on client needs.
Responsibilities
- Supports audit remediation activities by developing/updating process documentation, SOPs, and corrective action plans.
- Performs recurring testing, including internal controls testing and designing/executing MIPs.
- Provides targeted area support, such as root cause analysis for journal vouchers and FBWT variances, conducting PP&E audit remediation, etc.
- Applies federal accounting, financial management, and audit knowledge to assist with solution development and recommendations.
- Works across multiple systems and processes to understand and document auditability from financial statements to operational functions.
- Handles large volumes of data in Excel, financial systems, or other databases.
- Learns and adapts to Federal audit standards, DOW processes, and internal controls standards.
Requirements
- An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED SECRET Federal or DoD security clearance.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, Business, or a related field.
- Two (2) or more years of relevant experience in financial, auditing, accounting, or business.
Qualifications
- Advanced Degree preferred.
- Five (5) or more years of relevant experience in financial, auditing, accounting, or business.
- Interest in obtaining CPA, CGFM, or related credentials.
- DOD experience, financial, systems, audit, and/or operational process understanding.
- Experience in performing financial statement audits, audit readiness services, or audit remediation and sustainment services within DoD or another Federal Government agency or department.
Benefits
The annual salary range for this position is $89,000.00-$148,000.00.
