About the role

Both COMM 1006 Oral Communication and COMM 1007 Critical Thinking Through Argumentation are 3-unit courses taught twice a week on campus (either at our San Bernardino campus or our Palm Desert Campus) for one and a half hours per class session, during the Fall and Spring semesters (15 weeks each).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare syllabi, assignments, classroom activities, lecture materials, and grading rubrics following department guidelines.
  • Instruct assigned courses in a manner consistent with departmental standards.
  • Evaluate student coursework and grade assignments.
  • Hold limited office hours to meet with students who need help, have questions, and require advice about their coursework.

Requirements

  • Master of Arts degree in Communication Studies, or a suitably related discipline.
  • Demonstration of teaching experience at higher education level.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: Master of Arts degree in Communication Studies, or a suitably related discipline.
  • Ph.D. in Communication, or a suitably related discipline preferred.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation valued.

Commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population.

Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
