Evaluation
- Evaluates programs
- Networks with community agencies by serving on various committees/boards
- Conducts professional development activities
Supervision
- Supervises the development of Institutional Effectiveness departmental plans
- Solves student, faculty, and staff problems to the extent possible
- Supervises all evaluation and personnel academic activities conducted by the department
Teaching
- Prepares and delivers lecture on one (1) course per semester
- Serves on division and college wide committees
- Collaborates with area colleges to articulate programs
Budgeting and Planning
- Develops and monitors departmental budgets including grants, goals and plans
- Makes teaching assignments each term
- Facilitates curriculum development
- Hires full-time and adjunct faculty
- Develops class schedules each semester
Curriculum Development
- Supervises curriculum implementation
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in English or related field
- Five (5) years of full-time teaching experience in higher education
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of experience in administration, higher education administration
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for students and the measurement of training effects
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources
- Ability to lead strategic planning, program accreditation review as necessary, and assessment in the interest of promoting academic program excellence
- Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintain them over time
- Excellent written and verbal skills, including the ability to master complex issues and convey information clearly for varied audiences; and ability to develop and communicate goals in support of the college' mission
