The Clinical Psychology Program at the Washington DC Location is a flagship program at The Chicago School. About the Role

Successful candidates will join a diverse and cohesive faculty of outstanding practitioner-scholars. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to graduate instruction, training effective clinicians, supervising student research, academic advisement, and involvement in professional and scholarly activities. This position offers a hybrid work schedule with three days on campus and two days remote, with one remote day available for professional development (e.g., research, workshops, professional practice).

Responsibilities

• Teaching:
  • Teach 18 credit hours over three semesters
  • Hold weekly office hours
  • Remain current in field of study and update course content accordingly
  • Prepare course syllabi and plans in alignment with Department requirements
  • Select textbooks and teaching aids as required
  • Deliver classroom instruction through lectures, demonstrations, discussions, or other appropriate methods
  • Develop and regularly update a system for evaluating teaching and student learning
• Advising:
  • Maintain an advisee load as needed by the Department
  • Provide mentorship on academic, curricular, and career development
  • Assist advisees in preparing vitae, training application materials, and write recommendation letters
  • Document student progress through the program, including crafting Academic Development Plans, tracking compliance, and reporting progress
  • Present advisee progress at semester Student Review meetings and communicate Faculty concerns
• Scholarship:
  • Supervise doctoral dissertation projects within your area of expertise using quantitative, qualitative, or program evaluation methods
  • Engage in scholarship activities such as research, presentations at professional conferences, or scholarship-based community service
• Professional Service:
  • Maintain scholarly activities that advance the practice of professional psychology
  • Foster student interest in community service and engage in community service yourself
• Service to Institution:
  • Participate in Departmental functions, including faculty searches, admissions, curriculum development, and mentoring new faculty
  • Attend faculty meetings and participate in the Faculty Assembly
  • Serve on Departmental and Institutional committees as agreed upon with the Department Chair

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in clinical psychology or a related discipline (e.g., counseling psychology, social psychology, experimental psychology)
• For clinical and counseling psychology degrees: graduation from an APA-accredited program and current licensure as a psychologist or license eligibility with a plan to become licensed within a year
• Special consideration will be given to candidates with expertise in neuropsychology, psychotherapy, or scientific bases areas
• Teaching experience at the post-secondary level is preferred

Pay

This opportunity is budgeted at $75,000 - $85,000 base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
