Description of Work
This position provides direct dental care and oversees clinical operations within SCI Coal Township. It supports the institution by ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality dental services for inmates.
Responsibilities
- Clinical Care: Perform periodontal exams, assess medical histories, diagnose conditions, and provide treatment plans for inmates
- Treatment Delivery: Provide restorative and preventative care while maintaining strict infection control standards
- Professional Collaboration: Assist specialists in the performance of dental treatments as needed
- Staff Leadership: Supervise dental assistants and hygienists, provide training, and guide corrective actions
- Operational Oversight: Review schedules, records, and grievances to ensure compliance with clinical and administrative standards
- Inventory Control: Maintain supply inventories while ensuring proper security and tool management
Work Schedule
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break
- No evenings, weekends, or on-call duties
- Telework: Not available
Requirements
- Graduation from an approved school of dentistry (applicants within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree will be considered)
- Possess a license to practice dentistry issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA
- Ability to perform essential job functions
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
