Dentist, Mobile Team

About the role

Harris County Public Health (HCPH) is a network of over 1,100 public health professionals dedicated to improving health outcomes for approximately 2.3 million residents in unincorporated Harris County. HCPH offers a range of services including medical and dental services, community programming, and health education.

Responsibilities

• Delivers diagnostic, preventive, restorative and surgical dental care services to eligible patients.
• Manages daily clinical operations including delegation of duties to the auxiliary dental team members.
• Establishes treatment plans for patients of record.
• Schedules appointments, makes patient referrals, and communicates dental treatment information to patients, parents, and clinical staff.
• Supervises dental hygienists and dental assistants in accordance with Texas State Board of Dental Examiners rules and regulations.
• Oversees preventive maintenance tasks, infection control, and sterilization procedures for auxiliary dental staff.
• Maintains adequate clinical supply levels and approves monthly supply orders.
• Completes and audits monthly service data reports.

Requirements

• Education: Dental degree (Doctor of Dental Surgery or equivalent) from an accredited school of dentistry.
• Experience: 0 months - 1 year experience in a dental clinical setting as a practicing dentist.
• Certifications/Licenses: Texas Dental License, Drug Enforcement Administration Registration, valid driver's license (upon hire).
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficient in MS Office Suite, excellent communication skills, ability to work well with public and staff members, personal mobile device for Multifactor Authentication process.

• Position Type and Typical Hours of Work: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM; schedule may vary based on events.
• Work Environment: Clinical and community-based settings, including mobile dental events.
• Physical Demands: Must possess the physical ability, manual dexterity, and eyesight to practice dentistry in a competent manner.
