About the role
A vacancy exists in the Bureau of Clinical Services, Department of Health and Human Services. A list of eligible applicants will be established based on the examination as outlined below. Current and future vacancies occurring in any Office or Department of Baltimore County General Government may be filled from the list of eligible applicants. All interested transfer and promotional candidates must apply at this time.
Responsibilities
- Practices professional dentistry and directs the activities of a County dental clinic.
- Examines patients, diagnoses dental diseases, recognizes medical conditions manifested orally, and renders appropriate treatments.
- Performs a variety of intraoral dental services in the practice of clinical dentistry consistent with established standards.
- Prescribes medications.
- Supervises dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants in providing appropriate treatment and care of patients.
- Participates in the training and orientation of professional and support staff.
- Schedules and receives patients.
- Maintains supplies and handles fees.
- Prepares and reviews patient case histories, and other records and reports.
- Consults with other health care providers regarding patient treatments.
- Refers cases as necessary.
- Safeguards patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Represents the County on various boards and committees.
Requirements
- Graduation from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association with a degree of doctor of dental surgery, doctor of dental medicine, or an equivalent, plus four years' experience in the practice of dentistry.
- Possession of a valid license to practice dentistry issued by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners, plus four years' experience in the practice of dentistry.
- Valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license.
- Approved CPR certification.
- Diploma or transcripts showing major field of study.
- Proof of licenses, certifications, and education must be submitted with each application.

- Longevity Increases - In accordance with the specific pay schedule, a full-time merit or classified employee may receive a longevity increase, equivalent to one step, upon completion of a certain number of years of classified service with the County.
Pay
Annual Salary review - Step increases may be granted on anniversary date based on satisfactory job performance.
Schedule
Full-time schedule is typically 40 hours per week.
