Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a collaborative, well-supported clinical environment.
  • Provide care both in Juneau and through periodic outreach to surrounding communities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of experience or completion of a dental residency.
  • DDS or DMD from an accredited institution.
  • Eligible for or holding an active dental license (Alaska preferred).
  • BLS certification required.
  • Commitment to evidence-based dentistry and high-quality patient care.

Schedule and Work-Life Balance

  • Full-Time Schedule: Flexible 4-day workweek with 10-hour clinical days with no call responsibilities.
  • Traveling Clinic: 6-8 work weeks per year to support small communities throughout SE Alaska.
  • Generous Time Off: 33 days (264 hours) annually and 10 days of CME.

Practice Details

  • New, modern clinic facility: Featuring twelve private operatories and plumbed nitrous oxide.
  • Supports each dentist with two dental assistants in the near future.
  • Patient Volume: 12-18 patients per day in clinic.
  • All clinic operatories have up-to-date A-Dec equipment, digital radiography, and electronic health records.
  • Including Dentrix Enterprise Software and Dexis Radiography.
  • Procedure opportunities: Full spectrum of treatment options, from minimally invasive dentistry to traditional restorative dentistry, and full mouth dental rehab cases in the OR.

Key Essential Functions And Accountabilities Of The Job

  • Provides direct patient care in home office and occasional village travel.
  • Develops and promotes dental health.
  • Acts as advisor to the Director and Senior Clinical Director of Dental Services in all matters pertaining to patient care in their clinic(s).
  • Acknowledges all communications, submits required reports, timecards, clinical coding, and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Keeps up-to-date knowledge of technical best practices and of Evidence-Based Dentistry practices through continuing education and applying these skills to scope of practice.
  • Performs additional duties assigned by Director of Dental Services or other proper authority.
  • Maintains credentialing requirements (for Juneau & Sitka Dentists).

Other Functions

  • Constant pace and frequent contact with apprehensive and/or uncooperative patients require communication, patience, organization, and efficiency.
  • Flexibility regarding scheduling is required to accommodate occasional need to work into lunch hour, after hours, and in emergencies.
  • Participate in village field trips.
