Organizational Location: These positions are located in the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Health Services Corps (IHSC), in Conroe, Texas; Jena, Louisiana; Los Fresnos, Texas; Miami, Florida; Pearsall, Texas.
Salary: Will be set using Title 38 pay authority, based upon the special qualifications of the selectee. The Title 38 salary range for this position is shown above.
Duties
- Use clinical skills in oral surgery including surgical extractions of erupted teeth, administering of anesthesia, monitoring vital signs, alveoloplasty, removal of impacted teeth, biopsies, and soft tissue surgery.
- Examine patients, utilizes diagnostic equipment as appropriate, interpreting results for diagnosis.
- Establish priority of care and performing necessary treatment based upon established diagnoses including follow-up care as indicated.
- Provide general dentistry services to a detainee population including: preventive modalities and patient oral health literacy education; pre-treatment health assessment with pertinent case history; with an emphasis on oral surgery.
- Prescribe and/or dispense appropriate medication to patients as indicated.
Requirements
- Conditions of Employment: U.S. citizenship is required to apply. Successful background investigation and drug screen are required. Males born after 12/31/59 must certify registration with Selective Service.
- Qualifications: Must have a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from an ADA and CODA approved school, successfully passed NBDE, and have at least one year of professional dentistry work experience at the GS-12 level or higher. Must be able to distinguish colors, have BLS certification, understand, speak, read, and write English fluently, and be willing to participate in the emergency on-call process.
Qualifications
- Basic Requirements: Successfully completed a DMD or DDS degree, passed NBDE, and have at least one year of professional dentistry work experience at the GS-12 level or higher.
- Additional Requirements: Must be able to distinguish colors, have BLS certification, understand, speak, read, and write English fluently, be willing to participate in the emergency on-call process, and have a current Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare provider certification.
