Job Details

The dentist position at Minnesota Community Care is responsible for providing various types of dental care, patient education, and specialty referrals. This role requires collaboration with other job families to ensure an excellent patient experience.

Essential Functions

  • Provides restorative, periodontic, endodontic, prosthodontic (fixed and removable), oral surgery, preventive orthodontic, and pedodontic care.
  • Recommends specialty referrals when necessary.
  • Promotes and ensures the use of universal precautions, hazardous and infectious waste precautions/handling, and right-to-know.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and reviews.
  • Maintains credentials with all insurance plans.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings and peer review and quality of care chart audits.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Dentists are considered informal leaders within the dental team and do not directly supervise staff.

Work Environment

  • Primary environment is home office, administrative office, or clinical office.
  • This role requires regular walking.
  • This role may come into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses.

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Travel Requirements

The role requires the ability to travel between MCC sites in the St. Paul/Minneapolis metro area.

Required Education and Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited dental school
  • Valid Minnesota DDS license
  • Valid DEA license
  • Maintenance of continuing education, especially pertaining to general and public health dentistry
  • CPR certification
  • Maintain credentialing with all insurance plans contracted with our clinics

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience preferred in the practice of general and public health dentistry
  • Public health interest/experience preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus
