About the role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Hygienist to join a patient-focused general dentistry practice in Hornell, NY. This is an excellent opportunity for a dental hygienist who values preventive care, patient education, and building long-term relationships with patients in a supportive clinical environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine dental prophylaxis and periodontal maintenance procedures
- Conduct periodontal assessments and oral health screenings
- Review and update patient medical and dental histories
- Provide preventive dental care and patient education
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices
- Assist with treatment planning and clinical recommendations
- Maintain accurate patient documentation and records
- Follow infection control and safety protocols
- Collaborate with the dental team to create a comfortable and positive patient experience
- Support a prevention-focused approach to long-term oral health
Qualifications
- Current Dental Hygienist license or eligibility for licensure in New York
- Current CPR certification
- Strong clinical knowledge of dental hygiene procedures and preventive care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to educate and connect with patients of all ages
- Commitment to patient-centered, gentle dental care
Preferred Experience
- General dentistry experience preferred
- New graduates with strong clinical training are encouraged to apply
- Experience with: Scaling & Root Planing (SRP), Periodontal maintenance, Local anesthesia, Nitrous oxide certification (preferred but not required)
Patient Population & Volume
- Patient ages range from approximately 4 to 104 years old
- Approximately 15-20 patients per day
- Hygienists focus on one patient at a time to provide quality, personalized care
- Complex cases may vary based on periodontal health, medical history, age, and treatment needs
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation: $40-$50 per hour (based on experience)
