Dental Hygienist

Essential Duties

• Provides exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and One Health Ohio support staff.
• Covers appropriate preventative treatment modalities with the assistance of the Dentist.
• Obtains an accurate health history and updates at every visit.
• Charts existing periodontal conditions in the Electronic Dental Chart.
• Records patient’s BP on every visit.
• Provides dental prophylaxis for adults and pediatric patients.
• Removes calcareous deposits above and below the gingival margin of teeth.
• Provides the appropriate in-office and home fluoride regimens under the guidance of the Dentist.
• Maintains recall system and reminder postcards.
• Applies sealants to teeth as directed by the Dentist.
• Completes dental progress notes following preventative treatment.
• Ensures the appropriate dental instruments are available for each preventive procedure.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment per OSHA guidelines and adheres to infection-control policies and protocols.
• Affords assistance to other departments of the organization including front desk, medical, behavioral health, and management to ensure proper workflow process.

Physical Requirements

• Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time.
• Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
• Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard.
• Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 30 pounds.
