About the role
All KANA positions are based in Kodiak and are not eligible for remote work. Applicants must reside in Kodiak or be willing to relocate.
Responsibilities
- Serves as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team in the provision of Medical and other Health Care by collaborating with those professionals to provide KANA beneficiaries complete and comprehensive care.
- Performs comprehensive coordinated preventative Hygiene Services.
- Obtains, records, and updates patient medical and dental histories and alerts the treating dentist of any changes or complications that might alter patient treatment.
- Maintains treatment recall.
- Assists Case Manager and Dental Care Coordinator to monitor and maintain established protocols for patient referrals within and outside the IHS system.
- Maintains documentation and reporting measures of prevention activities as directed.
- Promotes the importance of preventive Oral Health Care through the provision of patient education.
- Coordinates and participates in Community Outreach programs.
- Attends all OSHA, HIPAA, and other regulatory compliance training formations provided by KANA administrative staff.
- Represents KANA in a positive and respectful manner assisting in the promotion and maintenance of good public relations among community groups and professional organizations.
- Accurately and promptly provides coding and billing information to KANA billing and Finance Officers and follows up with insurance pre-authorizations as required or when requested.
- Regularly travels by small plane to provide dental services to the village communities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduate of a dental hygiene program fully accredited by the “Commission on Accreditation” of the American Dental Association conferring either a ‘Certificate in Dental Hygiene,’ or an ‘Associates, or Bachelors’ Degree in Dental Hygiene.
- Holds an unrestricted license to practice hygiene in the State of Alaska.
