Dental Hygienist

About the role

Barrington Health & Dental Center is seeking Dental Hygienists to join our team. Seniors in their final semester of an RDH program are encouraged to apply. Job shadows will be provided at the time of interview.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient screenings
• Take dental x-rays
• Provide dental cleanings
• Perform clinical documentation
• Counsel patients on oral hygiene instruction and nutrition
• Treat an underserved community in a patient care focused setting
• Treat patients with 45 minutes for prophylaxis, 1 hour for perio maintenance, 1 hour per quadrant of SRP, and additional time for dental exams and x-rays
• Work full-time with guaranteed hours when the dentist is unavailable

Requirements

• New graduates are encouraged to apply
• Graduation from an accredited school of dental hygiene and a license to practice dental hygiene in the State of Indiana
• Eligible to obtain a license in the state of Indiana
• CPR certification – can be obtained after employment
• Local Anesthetic preferred
• Knowledge of medical problems/diagnosis that may necessitate antibiotic pre-medication
• Detailed knowledge of the anatomy of the mouth and teeth
• Recognize the need for various x-rays for review by the dentist
• Ability to work independently
• Strong organization skills
• Self-directed/Self-motivated
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required
• Good eyesight with or without correction (20/30)
• Ability to experience repeated and prolonged standing, walking, sitting, bending, and squatting is required
• Ability to lift, push, and or pull equipment, light to moderately heavy weight is required
• Reliable transportation required

• Must be able to position and move patients following safety standards
• Able to perform duties during periods of varied and/or prolonged work hours
• Will be exposed to all patient elements
• Must have good eyesight with or without correction (20/30)
• Must be able to read, write, hear, and communicate effectively in the English language by both orally and written

Schedule
